Prior to joining Red Truck, one of the last times I had stepped on the top step of a Provincial podium was in 2019 when I was still a Cat 3 racer. That day, no one else showed up, and it bucketed. This time around, things were a little different... we are now on the other side of the pandemic, and I was racing in the Elite field for the top title.

I've always enjoyed the slow and painful burn of a Time Trial, and the purity of it is always something that I will gravitate towards. You’re on your own with all the controllable variables at your fingertips, but you have to get everything dialled and put together to succeed. Even when crossing the line, after you’ve given all you had, you aren’t really sure if you’re the victor until everyone else has done their turn… such is life. You are in control of so much, and yet on the day, so much can still go wrong, but most of the time, it's just about squeezing everything out of your body as powerfully, and as efficiently as possible. That is the beauty of it. On the day, there were still quite a few things that I felt weren't really right, but it was enough to take the victory with the effort that I was able to conjure up.

Onto the next big target: the Nationals Time Trial.
