The last weekend of BC racing was set to be rowdy and rough with many of the local road racers showing up for some exciting gravel racing. Saturday's Rock the Ridge was a flat course with lots of rough gravel farm roads and loose dyke paths. Alex, Declan, Kyle and Tom were all lined up for a great day. The bunch was relaxed up to the first gravel sector, where the pack was shattered. Dodging crashes, potholes and bottles, a group of five, including Tom, were up the road with Declan not far behind. Unfortunately Kyle and Alex's day was cut short by flats and mechanicals only half a lap in! The front group motored along for another lap, but a big attack from Michael Van Den Ham of Easton Overland blew Tom apart, and was caught by the chase group. The boys finished strong with Declan launching a long range sprint to grab 5th and Tom hung on for 8th.

Sunday's Jailhouse Rock was primed to be even more exciting with a rough, hilly off road circuit around the correctional facilities in Maple Ridge. Motocross tracks and loose rocky terrain would be the deciding factors of race with the technical terrain making for some great racing. Like the day before, the group was shattered as soon as they hit the gravel. Al and Kyle drove the pace up the climb, whittling the pack down to just six riders. On the rough and tumble descent Al unfortunately flatted, which left Kyle and Tom in the front group. The group of five held strong for the next two laps, until the final climb where a strong attack from Sam Morris and Nigel Kinney saw Kyle and Tom get gapped, with their legs just not quite responding. Holding the gap through the rough gravel, Tom and Kyle were able to hold onto 3rd and 4th, and Tom grabbed enough points to move into 3rd place overall in the Omnium. With sore hands and legs, the guys were well pleased with their results and are happy to call the weekend a big success.
