So far this year we haven’t had any rain during Superweek, but Thursday night it decided to pour right before the women’s race at Burnaby. This would make the already technical course with a U-turn every lap all the more cagey.
Our race plan hadn’t changed much from the previous night’s racing: be aggressive, mark strong teams, and go for the big W. We started out strong, throwing off a couple good attacks, until five of our seven riders were caught behind some crashes on the slip and slide course. However, Denise and I kept with the race plan and tried our best to get a split in the bunch. Unfortunately, most teams were eying a bunch sprint and it was Colavita who took the win.
