This past Sunday saw the return of the Provincial Championships in the Hatzic Valley. Thankfully the winds shifted, clearing the smoke out of the area and making the undulating 18.5km loop hot and humid.
With only a few team races so far this year the women’s team worked well together to get in the break of the day. The women animated the race from the start, taking turns countering each other and using their numbers to get up the road.
Holly Simonson made it into the race winning break with two riders from Glotman Simpson and the Cyclery. Holly defended the team’s title from 2019 and took a decisive win in the sprint despite a mix up with the men’s peloton. Jenna Nestman followed up by winning the bunch sprint for 4th.
A very successful day at the races for the women’s team, both in results and learning experiences. The women are looking forward to more races to learn and grow as a team. Catch them next week at the Tour de Concord in Burnaby! Huge thanks to all of our supporters and crew out on the road, we could not have done it without you!
